Presentation

An exceptional Coffee Liqueur, made from the maceration and distillation of specialty coffee beans, respectful of man and nature, selected in Ethiopia at an altitude of 2,000 m and roasted by Vincent Ballot®, Meilleur Ouvrier de France Torréfacteur 2018.

A story of people

The specialty coffee is roasted and ground by Vincent Ballot, in Haute Saône, not far from the green lands of the Grandes Distilleries Peureux, associated with the Distillerie Massenez for more than ten years and chaired by Bernard Baud.

The two men from the same region understand each other and their meeting is an obvious step.

The ancestral know-how of the Master Distiller then expresses itself on this noble material... the first fragrances escape, timidly, then more intensely... a beginning takes shape and thus Djebenah Buna® awakens, meaning "Coffee Ceremony" and evoking this tradition so dear to the Ethiopian culture.

This unique liqueur, a creation of the Distillerie Massenez, is then proudly carried by David Palanque, Meilleur Ouvrier de France Barman and Massenez Ambassador.

Vincent Ballot selects the coffee beans, Bernard Baud transforms them into a liqueur, and David Palanque expresses his creativity through subtly caffeinated cocktail recipes...

Une histoire d'Hommes
Vincent Ballot

Vincent Ballot

It is in Marnay, a city of character in the Franc-Comté region, that LaGrange takes root... Barbara and Vincent Ballot travel the world in search of the most beautiful coffee cherries, like true gold diggers.

Respect for the man who cultivates the land and excellence in product selection are their priorities.

In 2018, Vincent won the distinction of Meilleur Ouvrier de France Torréfacteur, making him the 1st Frenchman to receive this prestigious title.

"The extraordinary sensation of rediscovering the spirit of the Ethiopian Forest, the cradle of coffee: wild notes of red fruits that you taste in a cup and that you faithfully find in Djebenah Buna®... because this liqueur is a unicorn that has been imagined, dreamed of but never realized!"

David Palanque

Graduated from a bar school in London, David Palanque forges his experience for the bar world in the great bars of Parisian palaces and then on the French Riviera where he currently officiates at the famous Harry's Bar in Cannes.

Final consecration in 2018 with the title of Meilleur Ouvrier de France Barman, a distinction currently held by only... 7 bar professionals!

David became professional friends with Pierre Boueri, Mixologist of the Grandes Distilleries Peureux-Massenez, whom he met in Singapore, and fell in love with the divine Golden Eight® liqueur, which would take him to the top of the world's greatest cocktail competitions.

Un écrin unique

A unique case

This unique Liqueur could not be adorned with a bland and soulless container, which is why, after a quest to find the perfect case, Bernard Baud finally found the rare pearl.

A carafe streaked like the traditional houses where Ethiopians like to enjoy coffee, decorated with red like ripe coffee beans and the finery of proud African queens ... "Djebenah Buna" is a tribute to Ethiopian history, the cradle of humanity, hence its name which means "The Coffee Ceremony".

Djebenah Buna® and gastronomy

Djebenah Buna® also provides Chefs with a whole new world of creativity, bringing a beautiful aromatic intensity and a slightly caffeinated touch to both salty and sweet preparations.

For gastronomy, two versions are available, a concentrate at 50% vol. and a liqueur at 30% vol.

The Distillerie Massenez has placed its trust in the artistic creativity of Angelo Musa, Pastry Chef of the Plaza Athénée, to magnify this unique liqueur through original creations such as Tiramisu, Moka or Baba Grapefruit & Coffee!

Note de dégustation

Tasting note

Tasting Djebenah Buna® is a complete experience. The eye is charmed by its deep amber color.

It is adorned with the golden reflections of the sun under which the fruit from which it is made has ripened.

First, it is the aroma of freshly roasted coffee that arrives in the mouth, then the bitterness balances perfectly with the sweetness of this great vintage.

Finally, the Ethiopian forest is revealed, vegetal and fruity like the coffee cherries.

Djebenah Buna® is a spirit in the truest sense of the word, because it is the soul of coffee that the Distillerie Massenez has captured in this Liqueur.

The signature recipe
